Welcome to the Sea of Clouds

Simply breathtaking! This was my remark after climbing Mt. Pungtaas in Barangay Concepcion, Danao, Bohol and witnessed the scenic view of their town’s pride – the Sea of Clouds. You might be wondering what this place looks like; just imagine yourself in a middle of the ocean onboard a cruise ship but instead of seeing the vast ocean, what you see is a sea of white clouds.

Situated 65 kilometres away from Tagbilaran City in Bohol, the Sea of Clouds is a new tourist attraction for those who want to marvel with nature. A stunning 360-degree panoramic view awaits everyone who will dare to take the adventure of Mt. Pungtaas.

How to go to Sea of Clouds from Cebu City?

We took the VG Shipping Lines to Talibon because we were heading off to Bohol on a weekend of April 2017. We arrived in Talibon Port at around 3AM and our van was already there waiting for us. One of my colleagues was from Bohol and they run a van renting business. I was not sure as to how much our team paid for that but usual rental fee for vans would go from 3000 – 5000. There are many van/car rentals in Bohol that you can just search over the internet. There’s so many to mention.

After an hour and thirty minutes of travel, we finally arrived at the tip of Mt. Pungtaas. Entrance fee that time was P25 but now I believe they have increased it. We did not hire a tour guide because the climb is not that long and the way going up is clear. It is safe. Our team started ascending at around 5AM and we reached the top after approximately 15 minutes. The sun has not risen yet but the surroundings are already visible. There laid before our eyes a panoramic view of nature. Hovering white clouds were visible from the pinnacle to the nearby mountains. The luscious verdant surroundings and the cold winds occasionally flowing around were just too perfect to realize our encounter with nature. I should personally say it was an amazing experience.

The sun has finally rose quarter to 6 o’clock. A morning smell of romantic sunrays have touched our senses. It felt like all my stress from the bustling city has been sucked out of me as I breathe the fresh air passing through my shoulders.

According to the locals who were there, the clouds will stay there up until 9 o’clock. After indulging ourselves, we head down and went to Danao Adventure Park to ear our breakfast.

TIP: Going in a group to Bohol is recommended. It is hard to find public transportation if you wish to hop from one location to another. You may opt to rent a van or if you have all the time in world, you can go for public transportation like buses and jeepneys at a local fare.

Our team did not proceed to the park itself since we were running out of time. We head straight to Can-umantad Falls and Rice Terraces in Candijay and to Anda de Boracay. You may check out my other blogs for these amazing places.
