Can-umantad Falls and Cadapdapan Rice Terraces

Nestled in a secluded part of Barangay Can-umantad is an approximately 60-ft magnificent waterfall – a hidden gem of the Candijaynons that brings pride to their municipality. Looking up above as the water freely descends sends you an enticing feeling to plunge into waters.

Right after our breakfast at Danao Adventure Park, our team journeyed for approximately two hours going to the municipality of Candijay to visit the newly discovered Can-umantad Falls and Cadapdapan Rice Terraces. Our driver and some of our friends already knew the place so we did not really have that much problem on where to go. The barangay was quite remote. We had to pass through narrow yet a little bumpy barangay roads and rice fields to reach these destinations but they were all worth.

The van was finally brought into a halt. The healthy green rice fields of Cadapdapan Rice Terraces welcomed us. It was a vast area of land covered with green plantation of rice. In this area, you will pay an entrance fee of P20. The locals will tell you to follow the paved way going to the falls. You will go through a descending walk down to the falls area.

When we were approaching the location of falls, we already heard the bustling waters. My feet were so excited that I ran to see how it looked like and – whoaaaaahhh! The splendid view of Can-umantad Falls stunned my eyesight. The surroundings were covered with trees and verdant bushes where I see myself in a middle of forest so far away from the city.

How to get to Can-umantad Falls?

From Talibon Bohol, you may take a bus/jeep/v-hire going to Candijay Bohol at a local fare.
From Tagbilaran City, you take a bus/v-hire going to Candijay Bohol at Dao Integrated Bus Terminal. Note: V-hire cost more expensive than buses.

Since it was already lunch time, we had to eat first before jumping into the alluring waters. Please make sure you will bring food when you go there. You may buy food at Candijay town proper. There was only one cottage available and good for us since we were the only people around. Do not expect a saucy cottage, you will eat there in a cowboy style. That ‘arte-arte’ attitude won’t work there.

The time has come to change into our bathing clothes but we did not forget to put on sunblock. The sun was scorching hot that time and our skin might get burnt if we won’t apply any skin protection. You can imagine us there basking under the sun, taking hundreds of pictures, jumping into the waters and playing like kids as we recall our childhood memories. The nicest part of it was when you can go under the falling waters so you can get a free back massage. It was a nice experience indeed.

NOTE: There are times when the water flow is slow especially when it’s too hot and there is no rain.

After few hours of satiating ourselves in the waters, off we went to head to our next destination which is Anda de Boracay and Cabugnaw Cave in Anda, Bohol.

Now the challenging part of going back to main entrance was the stiff slope going up. If you love hiking and trekking, going to Can-umantad Falls should be a good adventure for you.

You should dare visiting this place soon.
